Why we chose this word list
We chose scientific terms over common names on purpose: "cephalopod" instead of just "octopus" turns this into vocabulary practice for a marine biology unit, not a repeat of the easy puzzle with a bigger grid.
Long words like "bioluminescence" and "hydrothermal" were placed first, before anything else, precisely because they are the hardest to fit — the algorithm gives them first pick of the grid, then works down to the short filler words.
