A small editorial project publishing free, printable word search puzzles in PDF — built to a documented specification instead of generated in bulk with no design criteria at all.
Most printable word search sites online are produced by the thousand from an automated template: the same grid size, the same random word list, no answer key verification, no review before publishing. We wanted something different — puzzles where the difficulty level actually means something consistent, where the word lists are chosen and written by a person rather than scraped, and where you can check our work against a published spec instead of taking our word for it.
Every puzzle group on this site states its own publication date, its most recent review date, and — where relevant — when it's next due for review. Every PDF includes an answer key checked against the final grid before release. Every difficulty level follows the same fixed rules for grid size, word count, allowed directions and font size, documented in full on our editorial methodology page.
Our library spans age-graded collections for kids and adults, large-print editions, and dozens of themed and seasonal categories — from Animals and Science to Geography, Sports, Food, the Bible, and full holiday collections like Christmas and Halloween. Each theme is built out with its own age-appropriate word lists at up to three difficulty levels, and we'd rather publish two well-built levels than force a third that doesn't hold up.
Modern Word Search is an editorial project published and maintained by Space Bits S.L., a small company based in Barcelona, Spain. We're not a puzzle-mill network — this is one site, held to one set of standards across everything we publish.
