World Landmarks Word Search
Free printable world landmarks word search puzzles: famous single-name sites and ancient wonders from every continent.
This World Landmarks collection includes three word searches built around famous places people travel to see, each aimed at a different kind of solver. Easy covers landmarks nearly everyone already recognizes. Medium widens the geographic spread. Hard turns to landmarks and details that take real familiarity with world geography to place.
Every printable PDF includes an answer key and is reviewed before publication.

|---|---|
| Words to find | 10 |
| Font size | 16 pt |
| Paper | A4 & US Letter |
| Answer key | Included (page 2) |

Best for ages 5–8 and first-time solvers.
This is for a solver who already recognizes these landmarks from photos, travel shows or school, and just wants to find them in the grid.
Words run only left-to-right or top-to-bottom, so there's no hidden trick waiting for a beginner.
It's the version for a first geography lesson, an early classroom unit, or a calm few minutes with a pencil.
Vocabulary analysis
Measured directly from this puzzle's own grid — not a generic estimate.
With an average word length of 8.2 letters, this puzzle is densely packed at 68.3% grid coverage — less empty space means fewer easy gaps to scan past, so finding each word takes closer attention.
Why we chose this word list
Every landmark here has a genuine single-word name (no "Eiffel Tower" or "Great Wall") — a real constraint we worked with rather than around, since compound names simply can't be placed in a letter grid.
We still covered five different countries and three different eras (ancient Rome, ancient Greece, medieval and modern) within that constraint.
Why this level is easy
- Only horizontal and vertical words — no diagonals
- No reversed words
- Short, everyday vocabulary
- No uncommon spellings
- Minimal overlaps between words
World Landmarks — Medium Word Search
| Grid size | 15x15 |
|---|---|
| Words to find | 15 |
| Font size | 13 pt |
| Paper | A4 & US Letter |
| Answer key | Included (page 2) |
| Puzzle ID | WL-M-066 · v2026.4 |
Ideal for upper elementary students and casual puzzle fans.
This version moves past the most famous landmarks into ones that take real familiarity with world geography to place correctly.
Diagonal words appear here for the first time, so scanning takes real attention rather than a straight read.
It sits between a beginner's puzzle and a real challenge, without needing a travel guide memorized to solve.
Vocabulary analysis
Measured directly from this puzzle's own grid — not a generic estimate.
With an average word length of 8.1 letters, this puzzle sits at a moderate 53.8% grid coverage, balancing genuine challenge with enough empty space to keep scanning manageable.
Why we chose this word list
"Troy" is included as the legendary city excavated in real life at Hisarlik, Turkey — a genuine archaeological discovery, not just a myth.
"Neuschwanstein" (the German castle that inspired Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle) is a real single-word name, included precisely because it demonstrates that even long names can work as long as they contain no space.
Why this level is medium
- Horizontal, vertical and diagonal words
- No reversed words
- Mixed word lengths, some less common vocabulary
- Moderate overlaps between words

Designed for experienced solvers and adults.
This is for someone who wants real command of world landmarks, not just the handful everyone already recognizes.
Every direction is in play, including reversed words, with filler letters built to resemble genuine answers.
It takes sustained attention rather than a glance, built for someone who takes geography seriously.
Vocabulary analysis
Measured directly from this puzzle's own grid — not a generic estimate.
With an average word length of 7.9 letters, this puzzle stays relatively open at 39.3% grid coverage, making it easier to spot new words at a glance.
Why we chose this word list
We reached well beyond the usual Europe-and-Egypt landmark list here: Lalibela (Ethiopia), Sigiriya (Sri Lanka), Sukhothai (Thailand) and Vijayanagara (India) are all genuine, significant world heritage sites.
"Nazca" refers to the famous line drawings in Peru, visible only from above — a real archaeological mystery included for its own distinct significance, not as a stand-in for "South America".
Why this level is hard
- All eight directions, including reversed words
- Longer, denser word list
- Similar-looking decoy letter sequences in the filler
- Frequent overlaps between words

Vocabulary analysis
Measured directly from this puzzle's own grid — not a generic estimate.
With an average word length of 8.1 letters, this puzzle is densely packed at 67.2% grid coverage — less empty space means fewer easy gaps to scan past, so finding each word takes closer attention.
Why this is a Large Print edition
- All eight directions, including reversed words — same rule as Hard
